About the Item

Ikebana basket for the art of flower arrangement. This ikebana basket features a weave pattern which creates a hexagon shape and a twisted handle. It has a rounded body with handle and copper-lined bamboo insert to hold water. It has a deep brown color from the bamboo being treated by a coal fire during the construction process. Ikebana baskets are closely associated with the sencha tea ceremony. Baskets like these would typically be used to hold flowers which decorate the tokonoma inside the tea room. The basket portion measures 10" in height and 31" in circumference, the handle measures 6" in height to a total height of 16". The bamboo and copper insert measures 8.25" in height and 13.5" in diameter.
