About the Item
This petite wooden bucket is an early 20th century Chinese tea canister attributed to the Miao people of southern China. The antique vessel is carved from bamboo with ridged sides and a twisted iron handle, bent with a divot by which it hung from the rafters of a provincial home. Once topped with a matching lid, the bamboo container is finished with red-brown lacquer and cloaked in a rich, timeworn patina. Today, we love this storied vessel as an unexpected way to display a candle or houseplant.

The columns surmount octagonal shaped, incurved bases with a sunken well and plain collet style rim.
Each candlestick does not have a weighted base.
The underside of each base bears the maker's mark 'James Robinson' and 'sterling' standard mark.
