The surface of this fine example of Georgian silverware is embellished with bright cut engraved swags to the lower portion, below pierced decorated lozenge designs incorporating further bright cut engraved motifs. The upper portion of the is ornamented with pierced decorated stylized leaf designs. The rim of the body and foot are ornamented with an applied bead decorated border. This antique Georgian sterling silver sweetmeat basket has an oval navette form onto a collet foot. The body of this sterling silver basket is embellished with a band of pierced decorated vertical pales accented with four foliate motifs. The basket is further ornamented with two bands of pierced evolute scrolling decoration with a scallop and circular motif decorated border. The upper rim and foot of the basket are encircled with applied bead decorated borders. This George III sterling silver basket is fitted with an applied bead decorated swing handle. A very good large silver swing handle basket of pierced oval form. The arched swing handle with two cast female busts arising from a leaf capped double C-scroll support. The cast and applied rim of shaped foliate and floral entwined decoration. The central bowl of the basket engraved with a rocaille cartouche containing an armorial. The top of the handle is decorated with a leaf form cartouche within which is the crest of a deer. The sides of the raised basket with hand cut pierced decoration.
