About the Item

A charming circular hand painted wooden bandbox with a winter landscape in oil. Used to store hats. A painted horse drawn carriage sits against winter snow, houses, and trees. The side is made of bentwood strips, showing an aged green patinated vertical grain on the inside. The top and bottom have a dark aged leather band around the edge of the piece. The bottom of the box is unpainted. Made in the United States circa the 19th Century. Craftsmanship and style is consistent with similar boxes made in New England. No obvious markings on this piece. In fair condition. Gentle wear on the wood consistent with age and use. The top of the box has especially evident wear. This bandbox would make a great accent in any home. Perfect for storing hats, shoes, makeup, perfume, or any other personal items. Measurements each: Diameter: 15.75" / 40 cm Height: 12.5" / 31.75 cm
