About the Item
Native American Pima Basket. Pima is a community of Native Americans that live in southern Arizona, famous for the weaving of baskets. Pima baskets are generally made from thin strips of wood or grasses, with willow responsible for the overall caramel color, while the darker tones of Devil's Claw fibers provide the design. This basket is a tightly coiled circular basket having a flared rim, and sloping sides decorated with human figures, and a flat bottom. These baskets are ideal examples of the utility, workmanship and beauty found in Pima design.
