An exceptional, fine and impressive antique Victorian English sterling silver sugar basket; an addition to our silver teaware collection. This exceptional antique sterling silver basket has a cylindrical shaped form onto four bracket style feet. The surface of this fine example of Victorian silverware is embellished with an embossed and pierced decorated scene depicting a windmill, thatched building and wooden residences connected by fenced walkways, all within a forest setting incorporating a cow to the land and a bird to the skyline. The rim of the body is encompassed with an applied rope twist decorated border. The basket retains the original hallmarked, swing handle ornamented with interlacing loops with central conjoining floral motifs. This impressive antique silver sugar basket retains the original removable clear frosted glass liner, embellished with a star cut-glass design to the underside.
