About the Item

Extremely spirited, the interior of this elegant cup displays a figure of a dancing fat-bellied komast. He wears a short padded tunic with exaggerated buttocks, and is surrounded by rosettes in the field. The black exterior features thin pointed rays around the foot below with details in added red.     Repaired: Repaired from fragments with infill and over-painting along the repair lines. Wear consistent with age and use. One handle restored with area of rim around handle restored. Various small repaired chips to rim. Various wear to the painted decoration including rubbed patch to belly, wear and rubbing to the added red decoration on interior and to exterior bands.
