About the Item

André Thuret (1898–1965) was a pioneering French glass artist whose background in science deeply informed his artistic practice. With a degree in Chemistry, Thuret’s fascination with the molecular properties of glass led him to a lifelong artistic exploration of the medium, beginning with his first experimental works in 1924. Over the next three decades, he produced unique pieces that blended scientific precision with creative expression, earning him recognition in major exhibitions, such as the Salon d’Automne and the Exposition des Arts Décoratifs. With violet inclusions suspended within the glass, this bowl has a massive sculptural presence. Signed.
