About the Item

This beautiful rustic grain trough originates from the Netherlands and was crafted around 1880. Expertly carved from a single piece of elm wood, the trough bears many signs of wear and has been restored multiple times with the addition of metal patches and bands for reinforcement. Over the years, it saw extensive use in a bakery or mill. In more recent decades, the trough has served as a decorative piece or even as a magazine holder. During this time, it was lightly stained in a warm brown color, and subsequently lacquered and finished with wax to preserve its natural charm. The grain trough exudes a lovely rustic, natural appeal, and is both clean and free of defects. Its rich history and craftsmanship make it not only a functional item but also a wonderful decorative object, full of character and warmth, that could be a unique addition to any home or space.
