About the Item

Antique Burmese Black Monk Offering Bowl Set Burmese black lacquered offering bowl is called a hsun kwet. it is unique to Burma and was used to present offerings of food at buddhist monasteries. There are three bowls and two trays in a circular shape and topped by a stepped lid. the inside is a cinnabar color. the sides are ribbed and sits on six small feet. The bottom bowl would have been used for rice and the others for curries and condiments. Circa Late 19th Century Dimensions H 8.5" D 14.5"
