About the Item
A rare ceramic ice bucket by Danish sculptor and ceramicist Arne Bang, produced in Denmark during the 1930s. This refined piece reflects Bang’s signature aesthetic — a masterful balance between sculptural form and understated decoration.
Executed in glazed stoneware, the ice bucket exemplifies Bang’s early work at Holmegaard, where he pioneered a distinctly Danish modern approach to ceramics, merging utility with sculptural artistry. The robust, tactile surface and clean proportions capture the timeless simplicity that defines his oeuvre.
Designer: Arne Bang (1901–1983)
Origin: Denmark, circa 1930s
Material: Glazed stoneware
Vintage condition overall. Presents beautifully with two minimal glaze chips — one located on the foot rim and another on the inner edge of the neck — both discreet and not detracting from the piece’s overall appearance.
