About the Item

Arne Bang, jam bowl, model 119. Conical stoneware bowl in light grey glaze with ribbed structure. Wooden lid with silver inlays, topped with a spherical silver knob and a curved silver handle. Accompanied by a silver spoon stamped VEPA 830S. Lid marked Fr. Hingelberg Aarhus 925S. The bowl signed underneath with monogram and model number 119. Material: Stoneware, silver (830S and 925S), wood Dimensions: H. 13.5 × D. 13.5 cm Period: Ca. 1940/50s Condition: Excellent condition with minimal signs of use A refined collector’s piece where Arne Bang’s characteristic stoneware design is combined with Hingelberg’s silversmithing in an elegant functionalist expression. Arne Bang (1901-1983) was a Danish sculptor and ceramic designer. Bang was a trained sculptor and made sculptures in the public space. He is known nationally and internationally as a designer of stoneware, silver and tin. In 1929, Arne Bang got a job at Holmegaard Glasværk, where he started and was responsible for the production of Holmegaards Stentøj. From 1953 he had his own workshop in Fensmark.
