About the Item

A fine French Empire-style two-tone patinated bronze tazza signed by noted sculptor Émile Louis Picault, featuring a beautifully cast central medallion depicting classical figures and animals in relief. The shallow circular bowl rests on a richly ornamented pedestal with gilt-bronze acanthus and floral motifs, supported by a square plinth with scrolling foliate feet. An engraved presentation inscription dated “17 Novembre 1883 – 17 Novembre 1935” appears within the interior rim, likely commemorating a distinguished anniversary or dedication. The elegant contrast of dark patina and gilded highlights underscores Picault’s mastery in neoclassical bronze design, emblematic French decorative arts. Dimensions: 10"H × 23"W × 17.5"D Signed: E. Picault France, circa 1883–1935
