About the Item
The largest and most striking example of this design we've seen, this impressive Art Deco bowl was made by the famed Longwy ceramic works for Primavera, which was established by the famous Le Printemps department store in Paris. In the 1920s and 30s, Primavera employed a number of famous artists including René Buthaud, and worked with ceramic artists such as those at Longwy to create designs that would appeal to the modern consumer. This high style design, depicting two lithe female nudes befriending a deer, is glazed in black, taupe, pale yellow and burnt sienna. The bowl is well marked on the bottom.
