About the Item

Gerd Bøgelund for Royal Copenhagen Celadon-glazed bowl with relief decoration. Designer: Gerd Bøgelund Manufacturer: Royal Copenhagen, Denmark Material: Ceramic with celadon glaze Dimensions: H. 7 cm, D. 15 cm Mark: Royal Copenhagen, three wavy lines, form number 96 Period: 1950s–1960s Condition: Excellent condition An elegant bowl from Royal Copenhagen in classic celadon glaze with simple geometric relief decoration. The celadon glaze, rooted in Chinese tradition, was reinterpreted by Royal Copenhagen’s artists in the mid-20th century within a Scandinavian modernist spirit. Gerd Bøgelund (1923–1987) was a Danish ceramicist and designer, trained at the School of Arts and Crafts in Copenhagen. She joined Royal Copenhagen in the 1940s and over several decades created both sculptural and functional works, often characterized by simple forms, relief decorations, and earthy glazes. Her work bridges traditional craftsmanship and modernist aesthetics, and today her pieces are highly sought after by collectors.
