About the Item

Czech Glass Bowl/Basket by Josef Hospodka for Chribska Glassworks, Circa 1970s Model Number: 296/6/18 A unique Czech glass creation by renowned glass artist Josef Hospodka for Chribska Glassworks. Crafted in the 1970s this piece exemplifies Hospodka's creativity and the exceptional skill and technical mastery of Chribska Glassworks. The design features a distinctive shape that blends elements of a bowl, basket, and dish. At its centre, bright green glass transitions into darker yellow tones, all encased within a thick wall of sparkling crystal-clear Czech glass. The smooth, organic form beautifully highlights the gradient hues of the encased glass, creating a striking visual effect. This unique style of glassmaking, known as metallurgical glass, was achieved through precise moulding, with the shapes further refined by gravity and exposure to high kiln temperatures. Dimensions: Depth: 9 cm Width: 10 cm Height: 21 cm This remarkable piece of mid-century glass is in very good condition, showing only minor surface scratches on the base. Perfect as a catchall or vide-poche, or as a unique vase for a small posy of flowers.
