Each burl has its own shape, formed by natural processes. This piece has been hollowed out to function both as an object and a utility item. The bowl’s irregular outer form contrasts with its smooth interior. The wood grain and texture clearly show how nature has shaped the material. The bowl is lacquered on the outside, following a method commonly used in the late 1950s and 1960s. The maker of the bowl is unknown.
