About the Item

A very fine and large Art Deco Czech cut glass bowl engraved with roses with three nude winged cherubs to the base by renowned glass maker Heinrich Hoffmann (1875-1939) and dating from around 1915. Heinrich Hoffmann was a prominent producer of luxury glassware and one of the most renowned designers of Czech perfume bottles and other glass ware in the early 20th century. He came from a long line of glass producers and as a family greatly influenced the Bohemian glass industry with new and innovative designs and methods. This finely made clear glass bowl has a cut polished panel shaped upper rim with the lower body deeply engraved and etched with numerous rose blooms. The bowl has a narrow polished flat clear glass base which has been deeply engraved and etched with three nude winged cherubs at play. The base also incorporates the engraved Heinrich Hoffmann makers butterfly mark. Provenance: Acquired from the UK Art Market. In good condition with normal age wear to the base and with a few very minor scuffs from use but a very fine and stunning example by this sought after glass artist. Height 6cm, Diameter 23cm
