About the Item

Huge 16" / 41cm wide signed minimalist / modernist studio art pottery bowl by German ceramic artist Angelika Jansen-Meints. The proportions of this bowl are spectacular and most definitely a difficult piece to have produced with it's large curved base, single walled with a large rim or edge which is folded over, giving the impression of a thick, double walled piece. The simple, yet elegant monochrome decoration is quite beautifully understated in black and white - or rather a more organic charcoal and natural limestone / lime plaster colour with frisures a kin to a crackle glaze (these are intentional and not cracks to the structure). A wonderful piece of pottery, either as a stand alone conversation piece or as a large, oversized, fruit bowl for example.
