This Italian 19th century neoclassical marble bowl on pedestal, or tazza centerpiece, is finely carved in Cipollino marble, a highly prized stone already appreciated by the Romans and later revived for neoclassical decorative arts.
Characterized by its distinctive flamed texture and undulating veins, Cipollino marble displays a striking palette of white and cream streaked with brown and black veins, creating an eye-catching, painterly effect that recalls the aesthetic values of the Grand Tour. The natural movement of the stone recalls abstract brushstrokes, making each piece unique and sculptural.
