About the Item
Bold and substantial, this high style Art Deco low bowl, glazed in sky blues and golden yellows, features a stylized, rearing deer below an arching tree with oversized foliage. This piece was created in Finland, probably in the late 1920s or 1930s, and possibly by the Kupittaa ceramic works, which manufactured practical ceramic ware for decades before moving into art pieces after World War I. The vivid color palette of this piece is highly unusual. The piece is well marked on the bottom.
