A celebrated icon of Mid-Century Modern design, this large Krenit Bowl was designed by Herbert Krenchel for Torben Ørskov
Co. (designed 1953).
This vintage example, produced during the original run (1953–1964), features a serene Robin's Egg Blue enameled interior, contrasted against a matte black sandblasted steel exterior. The bowl is renowned for its razor-thin edge—resembling a millimeter-thin steel plate—and its "pure and simple" silhouette, which perfectly balances strict utility with sculptural elegance.
Markings: Unmarked (Common for early production runs of this design, though they were manufactured for Torben Ørskov
Co.).

Historical Context:
Herbert Krenchel (1922–2014), a civil engineer and materials scientist, approached design with a focus on structural integrity and surface quality. Inspired by the 1950s trend of serving green salads in Denmark, he developed a unique enameling technique that allowed for a glossy, colorful interior on thin steel, elevating the material from utilitarian cookware to the dining table. The Krenit design won a Gold Medal at the 1954 Milan Triennale and is held in the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA).
