About the Item
A mermezing Murano art glass decorative bowl. Made in a rich cobalt blue art glass using the bullicante technique in which air bubbles are formed under controlled condition to create a bubble technique in the glass. It also features the sommerso technique in which is a " Murano glassmaking technique creating layers of different colored glass within a single piece, giving the illusion of colors submerged or "sunken" without mixing, often with a clear outer layer". Both the bullicante and sommerso techniques are synonymous with Murano art glass as it's instantly recognized for its unique form. The organically formed shape features sides that have been pressed into the glass, creating edges that are ideally suited for use as ashtrays. This stunning piece is made with both clear and green art glass with the air bubbles seemingly suspended between. It's in good condition, some signs of wear and scratches may be present. No chips or cracks in glass.
