About the Item
Rare and beautiful, vintage Murano hand blown grayish white, black and red colored pigments Italian art glass decorative bowl. Attributed to designer Dino Martens for the Aureliano Toso workshop, circa 1947-1950. Believe the technique is called “Groviglio”, a sample of which is on the company’s book. The technique is made with unmelted pigments of color scattered within the glass. It has black and orange red pigments on top, over the grayish white color pigments. You can see how they pull apart within the glass, giving it a moon like inner texture. The piece has a heavy iridescence on the surface, showing a rainbow of colors when the light hits it just right. The bowl is made with heavy layers of glass. Would make a great display piece on any desk, vanity or coffee table. Use it as a catchall, or candy dish. You will be able to showcase it as a decorative piece in any room. Mid-century era. Collector’s item. Measures: 7” across x 2 1/2” high.
