About the Item

A colourful Murano glass bowl by Archimede Seguso, produced in Italy during the 1960s. The bowl is formed in a balanced, symmetrical shell-like profile with a gently articulated rim, allowing the layered glass and luminous colour to take visual precedence. Executed using the sommerso technique, the bowl layers transparent turquoise glass over a pale yellow inner core, all encased within a clear outer casing. Suspended throughout the body is a refined bullicante bubble pattern, interspersed with fine silver leaf inclusions. This layered construction produces a subtle optical effect: the silver appears cool and silvery when viewed from the exterior, while taking on a warm, golden tone when seen through the yellow interior layer. The interplay of colour, bubbles, and metallic inclusions creates depth and luminosity, while the thick glass walls and carefully finished rim demonstrate the technical sophistication for which Seguso’s mid-century work is known. Both sculptural and functional, the bowl is well suited for use as a decorative centrepiece, vide-poche, or collector’s display object. The bowl measures approximately 15 cm wide, 12 cm deep, and 7.5 cm high. It is in very good vintage condition, with no chips or cracks. Minor surface wear to the exterior is consistent with age and careful use. A fine and confident example of mid-century Murano glass by one of Venice’s most accomplished glass designers
