About the Item

A mid-century Murano glass bowl hand-blown in Italy circa the 1960s, executed in a richly saturated orange glass that shifts subtly in tone from deep red-orange to luminous amber depending on the light. The color displays the expressive chromatic intensity associated with Italian art glass of the period. The bowl is formed in a classic circular profile, gently disrupted by a single hand-shaped indentation along the rim. This intentional irregularity introduces an organic softness to the silhouette while maintaining a clean, modern presence. Decorated using the bullicante technique, the glass traps controlled air bubbles throughout the body, creating layered optical depth and highlighting the skill of the Murano glassblower. When illuminated, the surface appears almost radiant, enhancing the bowl’s sculptural quality. Unusually deep for its compact footprint, the bowl measures approximately 9.5 cm in diameter, 10 cm in depth, and 5 cm in height. It functions well as a catchall, jewelry bowl, or purely as a decorative art glass object. Though unsigned, the clarity of execution, proportions, and use of color are consistent with Murano production of the period and align stylistically with work associated with Cenedese during the 1950s and 1960s. This piece works equally well as a decorative centerpiece displayed on a coffee table, or as part of a curated collection of mid-century Italian art glass. The bowl is in very good vintage condition, with light surface wear consistent with age. No cracks or chips are present.
