About the Item

A Murano glass centrepiece bowl attributed to Fratelli Toso, Italy, circa 1970s. Formed in a circular shape with a softly folded, shell-like rim, this larger-scale bowl is blown in deep purple glass, threaded with spirals of copper using the traditional Avventurina technique. The fine metallic inclusions create a subtle shimmer suspended within the body of the glass. Under most lighting conditions, the purple takes on a warm, deep brown tone, lending the surface a quietly iridescent depth. The base is smoothly polished, with light surface wear consistent with age and use. The bowl remains in very good condition with no chips or cracks. Measuring 25.5 cm wide, 21 cm deep and 8 cm high, this Murano centrepiece bowl is notably substantial in scale, suitable for use as a display piece or as an oversized vide poche. A well-executed example of Fratelli Toso’s 1970s work with Avventurina glass.
