About the Item

A finely crafted Murano glass bowl, produced in the 1960s on the Venetian island of Murano, long celebrated for its centuries-old glassmaking tradition. This sculptural piece exemplifies the Sommerso technique, in which layers of contrasting coloured glass—here, a vibrant rose-pink over luminous yellow—are submerged within a thick casing of clear, hand-polished Murano crystal glass. The exterior is finished with a series of precise, hand-cut facets, refracting light with geometric clarity and creating shifting visual tones from every angle. Though unsigned, the bold form, saturated colour palette, and architectural lines are strongly indicative of Mandruzzato, a Murano workshop revered for its modernist interpretations of faceted Sommerso glass during the mid-20th century. A refined and collectible example of vintage Italian art glass, this bowl is offered in very good vintage condition, showing only light surface wear to the underside. Dimensions: 12 cm (W) x 12 cm (D) x 6 cm (H). Both decorative and historically resonant, it makes a striking statement in a mid-century modern interior, or a thoughtful addition to a curated Murano glass collection.
