About the Item
A unique and rather rare turquoise Murano glass geode bowl, attributed to Antonio da Ros for Gino Cenedese, Italy, late 1960s.
Formed using the traditional sommerso technique, layers of semi-opaque turquoise blue opaline glass are suspended within a matrix of clear crystal. The fusion of these materials creates a luminous, aquatic effect—evoking the sensation of water preserved in molten glass. Measuring 15 cm x 14 cm with a height of 5.5 cm, the bowl’s scale and weight lend it striking presence, well-suited as a centrepiece in a modernist interior.
Its softly squared, organic form features gently rounded corners, thick glass walls, and a flawlessly polished surface. This is a refined example of mid-century Italian glass design, reflecting the experimental spirit of Murano’s post-war maestros.
In very good vintage condition, with minimal signs of age or use. A discerning addition to any collection of mid-century Murano glass, Antonio da Ros designs, or Italian decorative art glass.
