An elegant and rather rare Murano glass centrepiece bowl by Fratelli Toso, hand-blown in Murano, Italy, in the early 1950s. This distinctive mid-century Murano piece is formed in an undulating freeform silhouette, emblematic of the organic experimentation that defined Italian art glass in the post-war period.
Crafted using the sommerso technique, the bowl features a luminous core of milky opaline glass, encased in a thin layer of clear crystal. Suspended within are rose-pink Zanfirico canes, delicately twisted in rhythmic patterns and highlighted with aventurine inclusions—a subtle shimmer created by copper particles within the glass, typical of the decorative finesse in Murano glassmaking of the era.
