About the Item

A refined pair of mid-century Murano glass bowls, attributed to Archimede Seguso, produced in Italy circa the 1950s. The bowls exemplify the sommerso technique, in which layers of colored glass are encased within clear crystal to achieve depth, luminosity, and subtle tonal contrast. Each bowl features a core of alabastro white glass overlaid with a warm butterscotch-amber layer, all suspended within a thick, transparent casing. The gentle diffusion of color and polished clarity are characteristic of high-quality Murano production from the post-war period and closely aligned with works associated with the Seguso workshops. The form is a softened square with four evenly spaced hand-pulled indentations, creating a clover-like silhouette that balances organic movement with geometric restraint. The bowls are compact yet weighty, functioning equally well as decorative objects, catchalls, or small sculptural accents within a mid-century interior. Dimensions (each): Approximately 4 in W × 2 in H Approximately 10.2 cm W × 5.1 cm H Condition: Very good vintage condition. No chips or cracks observed. Both bowls retain smoothly polished bases, consistent with quality Murano glass of the period.
