A fine example of Per Linnemann-Schmidt’s work for Palshus, where sculptural form is combined with the workshop’s characteristic matte glazes.
Palshus Ceramics was founded in 1949 by Per Linnemann-Schmidt and Annelise Linnemann-Schmidt. The workshop became renowned for its simple forms and subtle matte glazes in carefully tuned colors. Per Linnemann-Schmidt (1912–1999), trained as an architect, made a significant mark on Danish ceramic design in the postwar period with his emphasis on function, proportion, and the tactile qualities of glaze. Today, Palshus is recognized as one of the key names in Danish studio ceramics.
