About the Item

Rare Venini Art Glass Bowl in Light Blue and Lattimo Glass A vintage Venini bowl made of thin light blue and lattimo glass. Probably designed by Tomaso Buzzi in the 1930s. Signed on the base with vintage company lable and thre line acid etched signature 'venini murano ITALIA'. A very rare example of Buzzi's famous designs for Venini. Tomaso Buzzi (1900-1981) was one of the Italian star architects of the 20th century. As a friend of Gio Ponti he participated in the creation of the Domus magazine in the late 1920s. Buzzi was very interrested in applied arts and thus worked as a designer for Venini in the 1930s. Many of his works for Venini were inspired by ancient art. They call him as Venini´s little hero. He explored the cased incamiciato glass with great passion and developed some of the most iconic Venini glasses with the Alba, Laguna and Alga series. As Venini started producing lightning systems in the 1930 some of them were designed by Tomaso Buzzi. The lighting of the Milan Stock Exchange building was also created from his designs. artfour is an owner-managed trading company dealing with fancy pieces of Murano and Scandinavian art glass. Aureliano Toso (attr.) Murano Art Glass Bowl, 1950s A Murano glass bowl most probably manufactured by Vetreria Aureliano Toso and designed by Dino Martens circa 1950s. Blue transparent glass with mulitcoloured glass and silver foil inclusions. Coming from a family of Murano glassmakers, Aureliano Toso founded his own company in 1938. The collaboration with the painter and artist Dino Martens already showed the first successes at the XXIII Biennale di Venezia. Over the years, more daring creations followed, which, as with Pop Art, were clearly far ahead of their time. Later, the influence of artists like Gino Poli and Enrico Potz...
