About the Item

Coming from the curated collection of Spinzi Milano, this beautiful Murano glass bowl combines two distinctive techniques developed by master glassmakers on the Italian island: the "Sommerso" and "Bullicante". "Sommerso", Italian for "submerged", indicates all those multi-coloured pieces that have distinct layers of different hues; the technique, invented and perfected by Flavio Poli for Seguso, allows to obtain some truly captivating pieces. "Bullicante" is instead the name of Murano bowls, vases and sculptures that incorporate tiny air bubbles, blown into the molten glass during the creation of the piece to create the peculiar decorative pattern visible in the present piece. The bowl is very well preserved and shows only the expectable signs of age. It really shines under direct light, and the blue hue is as bright as it can be.
