This striking set of hand-carved teak bowls is crafted from solid blocks of burl wood, a material highly prized for its rarity and dramatic natural patterning. Burl wood forms when a tree undergoes an unusual growth—often at the base—resulting in swirling, irregular grain that cannot be replicated. Because burls occur unpredictably and only in certain trees, the wood they produce is exceptionally rare and sought after for its beauty and character. Each bowl features a pair of sculpted monkey handles, masterfully carved so that the figures appear to grow organically out of the vessels themselves.
