About the Item

ABOUT An original hand-blown sapphire blue glass bowl designed and signed by the renowned Danish glassblower Per Lütken for the Holmegaard glass factory. Engraved with Holmegaard, the artist's mark PL, and the production number 17793. Original label. Part of the iconic Provence series designed in 1955. These bowls were mouth-blown without a mold, meaning that while they follow the 1955 design "template," every individual piece has a slightly unique shape. During the 1950s, the factory focused heavily on "living" glass—pieces that felt organic and fluid. CREATOR Per Lütken for Holmegaard, Denmark. DATE OF MANUFACTURE c.1955. MATERIALS AND TECHNIQUES Hand Blown Glass. CONDITION Good. Minor wear appropriate for the age and use. No chips. Small scratch on one side. DIMENSIONS H 4 in. x Diameter 13 in. HISTORY Founded in 1825, Holmegaard is a Danish design icon and one of the most recognized names in Scandinavian craftsmanship. Holmegaard's cultural heritage is more than just a tale of quality craftsmanship over time.
