About the Item

A beautiful asymmetric Art Deco bowl with amazing black and white glaze. Designed by Svend Hammershøi and made by Herm A. Kähler, Denmark, 1930s. Excellent condition. Signed with makers mark 'HAK'. Hammershøj was a renowned Danish ceramist who collaborated with Kähler from the early 1900s and was known for his experiments with different glazes, including the double glaze, which became a hallmark of his designs. Kähler, founded in 1839, is one of Denmark's oldest ceramic workshops and is known for collaborating with renowned artists, including Hammershøj, who helped shape Kähler's style and popularity both in Denmark and abroad.
