About the Item

Rare and most likely unique dish by Nils Thorsson. This dish is similar to a dish Nils Thorsson designed for the ‘Marselis’ series manufactured by Aluminia in the 1950s. This might be an early version, maybe a prototype as it doesn’t show the Aluminia or Royal Copenhagen hallmark. Handmarked on bottom: BG 25 The dish is probably manufactured in the 1940s. During the Second World War there was a shortage of materials and stoneware was not easily accesable, and red clay was sometimes used instead. Nils Thorsson designed several pieces for Royal Copenhagen which were made with red clay such as the "Løvspring" series. PHOTOS: In the last 2 photos you can see the listed dish next to the matching dish from the “Marselis” series. Very good vintage condition No chips, cracks, crazing or repairs. There are some irregularities in glaze from production.
