Century old teak wood bowl with beautiful patina and character. Hand carved from a single piece included the handle. Both usable and sculptural. Full dimensions with the handle; 17 x 16.5 x 6″ high x handle 2.5″ long. This antique bowl was sourced in the spirit of Wabi-Sabi, a Japanese philosophy that beauty can be found in imperfection and impermanence. It is a beauty of things modest and humble. A beauty of things unconventional. It is the opposite of vulgarity. The costs of achieving this kind of minimalism are seemingly inconsistent with its mission of aesthetic humility.
