About the Item

A green majolica glazed pedestal vide-poche with an acanthus leaf pattern, England circa 1875-1880. French for ’empty pockets’, the vide-poche is a small bowl or container kept in a convenient location to empty your pockets into when you walk through the door. Perfect for holding your keys or coins. A shaped upper bowl of swirled leaves sits raised on a pedestal echoing the leafy pattern around the base. Measures: 6 in. W x 5.5 in W x 3.5 in. H Unmarked. In excellent antique condition. A dark glaze bubble on the bowl, a kiln effect in the making.
