Derby Porcelain's production dates to the mid-18th century. In 1756, William Duesbury joined Andrew Planche and John Heath to create the Nottingham Road factory, which later became Royal Crown Derby. Derby porcelain gained prominence due to its artistry and quality. In 1775, the company earned its "Crown" designation when King George III granted the factory permission to incorporate a royal crown into its back stamp. This recognition distinguished Derby from other English porcelain makers and enhanced its reputation as a producer of elite ceramics.
