This exquisite plate, hand-painted at the Derby factory in England around 1810, showcases vibrant enamels applied using a stencil technique.
The plate features brilliant colors of purple, blue, green, and red, combined with lavish gilding to create stunning floral and geometric patterns.
At the center is a twelve-pointed golden star. It is surrounded by bands of red and gold, a golden Greek key motif, and a band of white "pearls" set against a red background.

Marks: The Derby crown mark in iron-red, used in the factory from 1800 to 1825, is on the reverse of each dish.

Background of Derby Porcelain: In the early 19th century, the Derby factory was renowned for producing some of the finest English porcelain.
Derby Porcelain's production dates to the mid-18th century.
In 1756, William Duesbury joined Andrew Planche and John Heath to create the Nottingham Road factory,
which later became Royal Crown Derby.
Derby porcelain gained prominence due to its artistry and quality.
In 1775, the company earned its "Crown" designation when King George III granted the factory permission to incorporate a royal crown into its back stamp.
This recognition distinguished Derby from other English porcelain makers and enhanced its reputation as a producer of elite ceramics.

Often seen as ugly and black sheep of the porcelain world. British 1810-1820 Clobbered wares deserve better as they are historically very interesting. So lets call them George the IV or Regency Taste redecorated porcelain. And leave the clobbered behind us as it does no justice to what they are at all. Its not that because we live in a time were these super funky colours are out of taste that we should hate on these pieces.
A short history!
During the early 19th century, the Prince Regent (later King George IV) played a key role in cultivating a taste for the exotic Orient among the British elite, influencing interior design during the Regency era. His lavish projects, such as the Royal Pavilion in Brighton, epitomized this fascination. The Pavilion, with its blend of Indian, Chinese, and Gothic elements, became a symbol of the Prince’s extravagant taste. The interiors featured Chinese wallpaper, Indian textiles, and oriental furniture, reflecting the era’s growing interest in Chinoiserie and other oriental-inspired designs.
