About the Item
A decorative dish or vide-poche by ceramicist Bernard Rooke. England, mid-twentieth century. Handmade ceramic, in natural tones; the blue glass base with crackled finish. Rooke's own rune-like decoration runs around the top and, in line with Rooke's early work, there is no stamp or signature.
The piece is in good vintage condition with minor flaws from the making and firing processes, including small firing cracks and some asymmetry. Old felt has been removed in the past from the base; we suggest small felts to protect your table.
Approximate dimensions: W 13.5cm x D 13.5cm x H 4cm.
A second piece is available separately; the two are shown together in the final image.
