Birger Kaipiainen (1915–1988) for Arabia. Large square ceramic dish with floral decoration. Decorated with characteristic, stylised flowers in blue, turquoise, and black on a white crackle glaze. Signed : Kaipiainen in the decoration and with an Arabia label. Material: Glazed faience with hand-painted decoration Art period: Mid-20th century, modern Nordic design Condition: Very good condition with light, age-related wear Dimensions: L. 46 cm, W. 43 cm, H. 6 cm A striking collector’s piece from one of the Nordic region’s most renowned ceramic artists. Birger Kaipiainen (1915–1988) was a Finnish ceramic artist and designer, known for his imaginative, colourful, and decorative works. He spent most of his career with Arabia in Finland and Rörstrand in Sweden, and was often called “the master of decoration” for his unique artistic style combining natural motifs with ornamental details.
