Exceptional 1950s Vallauris Pitcher by Robert Auguste

Beautiful ceramic vide-poche by the renowned Vallauris artists Robert Auguste and Gyn Gausserand (also known as Gilberte Auguste), dating from the golden age of Vallauris in the 1950s.
The piece features a soft white engobe that serves as a luminous backdrop for a superb composition of abstract, geometric motifs characteristic of mid-century Vallauris design. Dominated by shades of blue, the decoration is enlivened by incised lines revealing the warm terracotta beneath, as well as small orange enamel dots that add rhythmic accents.
