About the Item

French Art Nouveau Enamelled (Cloisonné) Bowl, c. 1900 A striking French Art Nouveau period cloisonné bowl dating from the turn of the 20th century. This finely crafted piece features a richly detailed aquatic garden scene, with mauve water lilies drifting across the surface and a graceful dragonfly rendered in tones of yellow, black, and cream. Set against a warm, rusty-orange ground, the decoration is created through a meticulous process: the brass body of the bowl is first hand-carved to define the cloisonné cells, then filled with colored glass powders that are fused through repeated firings to achieve depth, luminosity, and subtle shading. A beautiful example of Art Nouveau’s fascination with nature, movement, and refined craftsmanship. Ideal for collectors of European decorative arts, enamelwork, or period objets de vertu. Period: Art Nouveau Origin: France Date: Circa 1900 Materials: Brass body with enamel (cloisonné) decoration Condition: In great vintage weathered condition, retaining all its original charm with natural aging signs that enhance its beauty.
