About the Item
French ceramic decorative platter by the Frères Cloutier (circa 1970s). A charming decorative platter created in the trademark subtle hues of the Cloutiers. It is immediately identifiable as theirs. Painted at the centre of the platter is a delightful bouquet of flowers in a basket. With its French Provencal charm it may be placed anywhere in your home or workplace. It is in very good overall condition. Maker's mark on the underside.
About the Designers: Jean and Robert Cloutier are called the twin brothers of ceramics. After having apprenticed for Lafourcade, Rivière, Georges Jouve and Pol Chambost, the brothers created their own workshop located in Paris in 1955. They produced both functional and dreamlike decorative objects. After Paris and a brief interlude in the town of Yonne, France, the Cloutiers put down roots in the Languedoc region of southern France. Forever refining their ceramic processes, they are considered to have perfectly mastered their profession and are held in the highest esteem.

French Vintage Decorative Plate by Marcel Giraud
By Marcel Giraud
Located in London, GB
A striking mid-century decorative plate by French ceramicist Marcel Giraud, dating from the 1960s. The design features a rustic, even-glazed centre and outer band in oatmeal tones, both accented with subtle concentric circles. Between these borders, a series of textured geometric segments form the stylised petals of a sunflower motif, lending the piece both rhythm and warmth. The rim carries a matching hue and an incised, rope-like repeating pattern, adding further visual and tactile interest. The markings and palette are characteristic of Giraud’s hand, making this a fine and representative example of his work. In good overall condition, with ‘Giraud’ incised to the underside. The reverse also includes a ceramic loop...
