About the Item

Exquisite contemporary gilded porcelain deep charger with a unique deep charger shape in blue, red and gold is created in a renowned Kiln of the Imari-Arita region of southern Japan and belongs to a series designated by the kiln as its “Showa Period Designs.” The Showa Period refers to the reign of the Showa Emperor covering the years 1926-1989. The medallion in the center is decorated with an attractive peony in iron-red and foliage in various shades of blue and green on a pure white background, a characteristic of Arita fine porcelain. An intricate traditional Arita floral motif decorates this piece with generous gold details throughout, which is repeated on the back piece. An attractive geometric pattern in blue underglaze encircles the rim. The back side of this piece is decorated with an attractive pattern. The striking porcelain deep charger has the mark of the kiln with its location in Hizen Province, adding that it is a Showa period design. Dimensions: H 14.5 in, D 3 in.
