About the Item

Mid-Century French Ceramic Pitcher and Glasses Set by Robert Auguste Gyn Gausserand, circa 1950s Rare mid-century ceramic pitcher and glasses set by French ceramists Robert Auguste and Gyn Gausserand, dating from the 1950s. The set consists of one large pitcher (30 cm / 11.8 in high) and matching glasses (11 cm / 4.3 in high). Each piece is finished in a grey glaze accented with vivid orange details. In a manner emblematic of both artists, the glaze is scarified, revealing the warm earthen clay beneath and creating depth, texture, and contrast. The decoration features abstract geometric motifs, characteristic of 1950s modernist ceramic design, reflecting the post-war avant-garde movement in French decorative arts. In addition, two extra glasses are included, bringing the total to six glasses. These additional glasses show minor rim nicks, consistent with age and use, and are offered as a complimentary addition. Pieces signed under the base.
