About the Item

A unique geode-style glass dish, crafted from crystal-clear optical glass. Its semi-angular oval form features a gently curved back, while the surround is sharply cut at a 45-degree angle, evoking the shape of a majestic sea shell; a modernist interpretation. The thick, transparent walls highlight the precision of its craftsmanship, while the interior of the dish is coated with a fine layer of semi-opaque white glass. This creates a striking contrast of depth and light, accentuated by the thick optical glass. At the centre lies a finely polished, oversized channel—larger than usual and potentially intended for cigars. Signed on the underside with the maker's name, the creator of this piece remains unidentified. However, its design and execution strongly evoke the distinctive style of Strömbergshyttan glassworks. Likely crafted in the 1970s, this is most probably a fine example of Scandinavian glass artistry. Dimensions: Depth: 9 cm Width: 15.5 cm Height: 12 cm The condition of this modernist glass masterpiece is very good overall, with minute edge wear that may be attributed to the firing process. Minor scratches are present on the base, consistent with age and use.
