About the Item
A decorative Murano glass dish, attributed to Murano glass maestro Archimede Seguso. Handcrafted in Italy in the 1950s, this elegant dish takes the form of a scallop shell, with its bottom edges pinched inward to create the distinctive shape.
Made from vibrant red Murano glass and seamlessly fused with a sheet of gold leaf—a signature technique in mid-century Murano glass design—this combination results in a rich, organic pattern. During the firing process, the stretching and forming of the molten glass produce a concentric pattern of gold flakes that radiate outward, echoing the delicate textures found in a natural scallop shell.
Measuring 11 cm in width and length, with a height of 3.5 cm, this vintage Murano dish is a striking accent for a coffee table, vanity, or curated glass collection.
In very good condition for age and use, with only minor scratching to its polished base.
